As part of our core goal of encouraging and supporting research on topics related to interlinguistics, language policy and linguistic justice, CED provides several grants and support structures for researchers, especially for those who are taking their first steps in these fields.

Our most traditional programme is the Interlinguistic Support Fund, which awards small grants to help scholars and already experienced students carry out research in the fields of language planning, interlinguistics, transnational language policy, language justice and studies on planned languages (including Esperanto).

Those who are interested in archival research on Esperanto and interlinguistics, whether in special collections on these topics or in more general collections, are encouraged to apply for our annual Charles Power Grant for Archival Research.

CED also coordinates a Mentoring Programme for New Researchers, to connect researchers who are (relatively) new to the field of interlinguistics with an experienced researcher who can provide advice, feedback and propose collaboration according to your goals and needs. A mentoring relationship has a limited duration and aims, among other things, at the preparation of a research-related output for a journal or academic conference.

For those who could benefit from an institutional affiliation with CED to advance their research projects and careers – possibly in direct collaboration with our board members and regular collaborators – CED also accepts affiliated researchers. Finally, CED has historically advocated for Esperanto and interlinguistics to be occasionally taught and researched at several universities around the world. The International League of Esperanto Teachers (ILEI) is also dedicated to this field of activity, in addition to its main focus on school-level education. CED currently supports teaching and research on these topics at institutions such as the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland) and the University of Zaozhuang (China) – see a more complete list at Edukado.net.
