PARTNERS
Within our work on research and documentation, CED has established partnerships with several organisations, research foundations and archives. These opportunities to collaborate expand our capacity and enable CED to more effectively support researchers and provide resources for the conservation of documents and libraries. Below you will find further details about our key partner organisations.
Universala Esperanto-Asocio (UEA)
The Universal Esperanto Association was founded in 1908 as an organisation of individual Esperanto speakers and supporters. Currently UEA is the largest international organisation for Esperanto speakers and has members in 120 countries. UEA works not only to promote Esperanto, but to stimulate discussion of the world language problem and to call attention to the necessity of equality among languages.
Esperantic Studies Foundation (ESF)
ESF was established in 1968 to promote scholarly research and dialogue on issues concerned with world language problems and policies, including Esperanto. ESF works to further the understanding and practice of linguistic justice in a multicultural world, with a focus on three priority areas: research (including grants and fellowships), conservation of archives and libraries, and education (involving the teaching of Esperanto and interlinguistics at universities).
Gesellschaft für Interlinguistik e. V. (GIL)
The Society for Interlinguistics (GIL) is a scientific society founded in Berlin in 1991. GIL explores ways to optimise international communication and language policies, focusing primarily on the use of constructed languages for this purpose and covering the study of linguistic, economic, cultural, historical, legal and technological issues. It organises annual meetings and publishes a yearbook on these topics. GIL uses German as its working language.
Internacia Ligo de Esperantistaj Instruistoj (ILEI)
ILEI is the International League of Esperanto-Speaking Teachers, a global organisation founded in 1949 to promote the teaching and use of the Esperanto language, focusing on introducing it into schools, developing educational materials, organising teacher training, and fostering mutual understanding among peoples. ILEI organises an annual conference, publishes two magazines and is affiliated with UNESCO.
Esperanto Por UN
Esperanto Por UN is an Esperanto-language support organisation for the United Nations. It works to support the United Nations and UNESCO, promoting multilingualism in the UN. It features representatives in New York, Geneva, Vienna and Paris, who work to produce reports on multilingualism and language policies, to lobby for linguistic justice within these international bodies and to disseminate the UN goals among Esperanto speakers.
Edukado.net
Edukado.net is a comprehensive online resource and network for teachers, course directors and learners of Esperanto. This network provides downloadable materials, teaching guides, articles and a platform for collaboration to support modern, high-quality Esperanto instruction globally. Edukado.net also offers a database of courses, educational games and teaching resources in multiple languages.
Libraries and Archives
For the purposes of research and documentation, libraries and archives on Esperanto and other planned languages have indisputable value. Most often they are created and maintained by local archives and private collectors, who sometimes donate or bequeath them to national institutions. Therefore, CED also collaborates with libraries and archives to create tools, catalogues and better access conditions for researchers, as well as to support cooperation between the various collections. Our core partners in this regard are the Austrian National Library (in German: Österreichische Nationalbibliothek) and the National Library of Poland (in Polish: Biblioteka Narodowa), which contain rich collections on Esperanto, interlinguistics and language planning.
